Deriving the Spectrum, Ch Many-electron terms, levels and Hund's rules

Problem

Silicon's ground configuration is 3p23p^2, two equivalent electrons in a pp subshell. ((a)) Tabulate the allowed (ML,MS)(M_L,M_S) combinations for two electrons in a pp subshell and hence list the terms of 3p23p^2, checking that the total number of states matches (62)\binom{6}{2}. ((b)) Apply Hund's rules to find the ground level of silicon, giving the full term symbol 2S+1LJ^{2S+1}L_J.
