Deriving the Spectrum, Ch Polyatomic molecules: normal modes and symmetry

Problem

Heavy water, D2O\mathrm{D_2O}, has the same shape and potential surface as H2O\mathrm{H_2O} and fundamentals at 26712671, 11781178 and 2788 cm−12788\,\mathrm{cm^{-1}}. Treating each normal mode as an independent oscillator and letting the measured fundamentals stand in for the harmonic ones, find its vibrational zero-point energy in cm−1\mathrm{cm^{-1}} and in eV\mathrm{eV}, and express it as a fraction of water's 4504 cm−14504\,\mathrm{cm^{-1}} found in this chapter.
