Problem

A single rigid square loop of thin wire, of side 4.0 cm4.0\,\mathrm{cm}, lies in the xyxy-plane and carries a steady current of 0.50 A0.50\,\mathrm{A} which runs anticlockwise when the loop is viewed from the +z+z side. The loop sits in a uniform magnetic field B=0.20 y^ T\mathbf{B} = 0.20\,\hat{\mathbf{y}}\,\mathrm{T}. The field the loop's own current makes is negligible compared with B\mathbf{B}, and gravity is ignored. ((a)) Find the magnetic dipole moment m\mathbf{m} of the loop, giving its magnitude and direction. ((b)) Find the magnitude and direction of the torque on the loop. ((c)) One side of the loop carries its current along +x^+\hat{\mathbf{x}}. Find the magnitude and direction of the force on that side.
