Problem

A region contains the uniform magnetic field B=0.15 z^ T\mathbf{B} = 0.15\,\hat{\mathbf{z}}\,\mathrm{T}. Take the electron charge as −e-e with e=1.602×10−19 Ce = 1.602\times10^{-19}\,\mathrm{C} and the electron mass as me=9.109×10−31 kgm_e = 9.109\times10^{-31}\,\mathrm{kg}. Gravity and any collisions are ignored. ((a)) An electron enters the region with velocity v=2.0×106 x^ m s−1\mathbf{v} = 2.0\times10^{6}\,\hat{\mathbf{x}}\,\mathrm{m\,s^{-1}}. Compute v×B\mathbf{v}\times\mathbf{B} and hence the magnitude and direction of the magnetic force on the electron. ((b)) Find the radius of the circle the electron travels on. ((c)) A rigid circular coil of 2525 turns and radius 3.0 cm3.0\,\mathrm{cm}, carrying 0.40 A0.40\,\mathrm{A}, is placed in the same field with its magnetic moment along +x^+\hat{\mathbf{x}}. Find the magnitude and direction of the torque on the coil.
