Problem

A model vector field, offered as a candidate electric field, isE=k[(x+y) x^+(y−x) y^],k=200 V m−2,\mathbf{E} = k\left[(x + y)\,\hat{\mathbf{x}} + (y - x)\,\hat{\mathbf{y}}\right],\qquad k = 200\ \mathrm{V\,m^{-2}},with xx and yy in metres and no zz component anywhere. ((a)) Compute ∇⋅E\nabla\cdot\mathbf{E}. ((b)) Compute the zz component of ∇×E\nabla\times\mathbf{E}, and state the sense in which a paddle wheel with its axis along zz would turn, seen from the +z+z side.
