Problem

A 10 μF10\,\mu\mathrm{F} capacitor is connected directly across the mains, 230 V230\,\mathrm{V} rms at 50.0 Hz50.0\,\mathrm{Hz}. Take the capacitor as ideal (no leakage and no series resistance) and the supply as an ideal sinusoidal source. ((a)) Find the rms current in the capacitor. ((b)) Find the mean power taken from the supply by the capacitor. ((c)) Find the greatest energy stored in the capacitor during a cycle.
