Problem

A 2.2 μF2.2\,\mu\mathrm{F} capacitor of negligible leakage is connected across an ideal sinusoidal supply of frequency 400 Hz400\,\mathrm{Hz} and negligible internal impedance. On an oscilloscope the supply waveform is a sinusoid of 12.0 V12.0\,\mathrm{V} peak to peak. ((a)) Find the rms voltage of the supply. ((b)) Find the reactance of the capacitor and the rms current it draws. ((c)) State the mean power the capacitor takes from the supply, and say why. ((d)) Find the self-inductance of an ideal coil which, placed in series with this capacitor, would make the pair resonate at 400 Hz400\,\mathrm{Hz}. ((e)) That coil and a resistor R=15 ΩR = 15\,\Omega are now connected in series with the capacitor across the same supply. Find the quality factor and the greatest energy stored in the coil's magnetic field during a cycle.
