Problem

A parallel-plate capacitor has plates of area A=0.020 m2A = 0.020\,\mathrm{m^2} separated by a vacuum gap. The wires carry a charging current of I=0.35 AI = 0.35\,\mathrm{A}, and the field in the gap may be taken as uniform, perpendicular to the plates, with no fringing. ((a)) Find the rate of change dE/dtdE/dt of the electric field in the gap. ((b)) Find the displacement current ε0 dΦE/dt\varepsilon_0\,d\Phi_E/dt through a flat surface that lies inside the gap and spans the whole plate area.
