Problem

A capacitor is made of two circular plates of radius R=4.0 cmR = 4.0\,\mathrm{cm}, separated by a narrow vacuum gap, and is charged by a current I=0.60 AI = 0.60\,\mathrm{A} along the straight wires on its axis. Take the field in the gap to be uniform and perpendicular to the plates, with no fringing, so that the arrangement is symmetric about the axis and the magnetic field in the gap circles the axis. ((a)) Find the magnitude of the magnetic field in the gap at a distance s=1.5 cms = 1.5\,\mathrm{cm} from the axis. ((b)) Find the magnitude of the magnetic field in the plane of the gap at s=8.0 cms = 8.0\,\mathrm{cm} from the axis, outside the rim of the plates.
