Problem

A uniform static electric field of magnitude 800 V m−1800\,\mathrm{V\,m^{-1}} in air (treat air as vacuum) meets the flat surface of a slab of glass of relative permittivity εr=2.5\varepsilon_r = 2.5. The field makes an angle of 60∘60^\circ with the surface. There is no free charge on the surface, and the glass is a linear dielectric. ((a)) Find the tangential and normal components of the field just inside the glass. ((b)) Find the magnitude of the field in the glass and the angle it makes with the surface.
