Problem

A curve tracer holds the base current fixed at IB=25 μAI_B = 25\,\mathrm{\mu A} and sweeps the collector-emitter voltage, recording the collector current. The measured pairs of VCEV_{CE} and ICI_C are: 0.05 V0.05\,\mathrm{V} and 0.90 mA0.90\,\mathrm{mA}; 0.15 V0.15\,\mathrm{V} and 2.60 mA2.60\,\mathrm{mA}; 0.30 V0.30\,\mathrm{V} and 3.55 mA3.55\,\mathrm{mA}; 1.0 V1.0\,\mathrm{V} and 3.62 mA3.62\,\mathrm{mA}; 4.0 V4.0\,\mathrm{V} and 3.65 mA3.65\,\mathrm{mA}; 8.0 V8.0\,\mathrm{V} and 3.66 mA3.66\,\mathrm{mA}. ((a)) State which region of operation the VCE=0.15 VV_{CE} = 0.15\,\mathrm{V} point lies in, and which region the VCE=4.0 VV_{CE} = 4.0\,\mathrm{V} point lies in, giving the reasoning. ((b)) Read βF\beta_F off the active-region data, using the point at VCE=4.0 VV_{CE} = 4.0\,\mathrm{V}.
