Problem

A bearing-vibration probe puts out a tone at 34 kHz34\,\mathrm{kHz}. It is digitised by a 1010-bit sample-and-hold system sampling at fs=20 kHzf_s = 20\,\mathrm{kHz}. ((a)) Estimate the frequency at which this tone appears in the recorded data. ((b)) Estimate the maximum rms aperture jitter the sample-and-hold may have if the recorded amplitude of the 34 kHz34\,\mathrm{kHz} tone is not to be degraded below the 1010-bit full-scale signal-to-noise ratio.
