Problem

A compensating block inside a pressure-control loop has a pole pair at s=−800±j2400 s−1s = -800 \pm j2400\,\mathrm{s^{-1}} and no zero. ((a)) From the pole positions alone, state the envelope time constant and the ringing frequency (in hertz) that would appear in the block's step response. ((b)) Sketch, in words, the shape of the Bode magnitude: give the resonant frequency f0f_0, the value of QQ, and the height in decibels of any peak above the low-frequency gain. ((c)) This block sits inside a proportional-only control loop whose low-frequency (zero-frequency) loop gain is Tdc=12T_{\rm dc}=12. Assuming the complete loop settles, give the fraction of a set-point step that is left as steady-state error.
