Problem

A satellite ground-station receiver has a noise-equivalent bandwidth B=1 MHzB=1\,\mathrm{MHz} and a noise figure NF=1.5 dB\mathrm{NF}=1.5\,\mathrm{dB}, both referred to T0=290 KT_0=290\,\mathrm{K}. ((a)) Calculate its noise floor in dBm. ((b)) A second receiver has B=25 kHzB=25\,\mathrm{kHz} and NF=8 dB\mathrm{NF}=8\,\mathrm{dB}, giving a noise floor of −122.0 dBm-122.0\,\mathrm{dBm}. State whether the ground-station receiver's floor is better or worse, and by how many decibels.
