Problem

A gas-fired combined heat and power plant delivers 3232 per cent of its fuel's heating value as electricity and 4848 per cent as district heat at Tu=350 KT_u = 350\,\mathrm{K}. The surroundings are at T0=283 KT_0 = 283\,\mathrm{K}, and the fuel's exergy is 1.041.04 times its heating value. ((a)) Compute the energy utilisation (W+Qu)/Qfuel(W+Q_u)/Q_{\rm fuel}. ((b)) Compute the exergetic efficiency [W+Qu(1−T0/Tu)]/Xfuel[W + Q_u(1-T_0/T_u)]/X_{\rm fuel}. ((c)) Compute the plant's electricity alone, counted in exergy.
