Problem

A 1 GWe1\,\mathrm{GW_e} light-water reactor has a thermal power Pth=3.0 GWP_{\rm th} = 3.0\,\mathrm{GW}, runs at a capacity factor CF=0.90\mathrm{CF} = 0.90, and discharges its fuel at a burn-up B=60 GW d t−1B = 60\,\mathrm{GW\,d\,t^{-1}}. Find the mass of heavy-metal fuel that must be loaded (and, at equilibrium, discharged) each calendar year.
