Problem

A reactor's first wall operates at a neutron wall loading of Γn=2.5 MW m−2\Gamma_n = 2.5\,\mathrm{MW\,m^{-2}}. For the structural steel used, radiation damage accumulates at a rate proportional to the wall loading, at 10 dpa10\,\mathrm{dpa} (displacements per atom) per full-power year for each 1 MW m−21\,\mathrm{MW\,m^{-2}} of loading. The material is replaced once it reaches 150 dpa150\,\mathrm{dpa}. ((a)) Find the damage accumulation rate at this wall loading, in dpa per full-power year. ((b)) Find the wall's lifetime in full-power years.
