Problem

A domestic heat pump delivers water at 45∘C45^\circ\mathrm{C} from outdoor air at 5∘C5^\circ\mathrm{C}. Take the refrigerant to condense 5 K5\,\mathrm{K} above the flow water and evaporate 5 K5\,\mathrm{K} below the air, and take the second-law efficiency of the real machine to be ηII=0.50\eta_{\rm II}=0.50. ((a)) Find the reversible (Carnot) coefficient of performance between the refrigerant temperatures. ((b)) Find the real coefficient of performance.
