Problem

Measured viscosities of nitrogen gas at one atmosphere are given below. Data: μ=1.66\mu=1.66, 2.092.09 and 2.462.46 (in units of 10−5 Pa s10^{-5}\,\mathrm{Pa\,s}) at T=273T=273, 373373 and 473 K473\,\mathrm{K} respectively. Sutherland's law is μ(T)=μ(T0)(TT0)3/2T0+SsuT+Ssu.\mu(T) = \mu(T_0)\left(\frac{T}{T_0}\right)^{3/2}\frac{T_0+S_{\rm su}}{T+S_{\rm su}}. ((a)) Use the values at 273 K273\,\mathrm{K} and 373 K373\,\mathrm{K} to find the Sutherland constant SsuS_{\rm su} for nitrogen. ((b)) Use this SsuS_{\rm su} to predict μ\mu at 473 K473\,\mathrm{K} and compare with the tabulated value.
