Fluid Dynamics, Ch Interfaces: capillary statics and the stress conditions at a surface

Problem

A large puddle of water on a painted surface (contact angle θc=90∘\theta_c = 90^\circ) has measured depth 3.9 mm3.9\,\mathrm{mm}, much less than its width. If twice as much water is poured onto the same surface, so the puddle spreads to about twice its original area (still much wider than the capillary length), predict whether the puddle becomes deeper, shallower, or stays the same depth. Give the physical reason.
