Problem

A lossless transmission line of characteristic impedance Z0=50 ΩZ_0 = 50\,\Omega and propagation velocity vp=2.0×108 m s−1v_p = 2.0\times10^8\,\mathrm{m\,s^{-1}} is ℓ=0.50 m\ell = 0.50\,\mathrm{m} long. It is driven at f=50 MHzf = 50\,\mathrm{MHz} and terminated in a purely resistive load ZL=100 ΩZ_L = 100\,\Omega. Calculate the input impedance ZinZ_{\rm in} seen at the driven end, giving its real and imaginary parts.
