Problem

A sealed syringe contains 2.5×10192.5\times10^{19} gas molecules confined to a volume VV. The plunger is withdrawn so that the accessible volume becomes 3V3V, at a constant temperature of 298 K298\,\mathrm{K}. ((a)) Calculate the entropy change ΔS\Delta S of the gas. ((b)) Calculate TΔST\Delta S in joules, and express TΔST\Delta S per molecule as a multiple of kBTk_BT.
