Problem

An ultrasound pulse is fired into the abdomen, and the echo from the back wall of a kidney returns 130 μs130\,\mathrm{\mu s} later. Take cs=1540 m s−1c_s = 1540\,\mathrm{m\,s^{-1}} in soft tissue. ((a)) How deep is the boundary, in centimetres? ((b)) The scanner builds each frame from 192192 lines and cannot fire the next line until the echo from this depth has returned. What is the largest number of frames a second it can make?
