Problem

A bat emits an echolocation call that is very close to a single pure tone of frequency 55 kHz55\,\mathrm{kHz}. It is recorded on a digital sound recorder that samples at 96 kHz96\,\mathrm{kHz}, with no analogue filter removing frequencies above half the sampling rate before digitisation. ((a)) State the frequency at which the tone will actually appear in the digitised recording. ((b)) State the sampling rate that the recorder's rate must exceed to record the 55 kHz55\,\mathrm{kHz} call at its true frequency.
