Problem

For laminar flow between two plates of contact area AA separated by a gap yy and moving at relative speed vv, Newton's law of viscosity gives the tangential force as F=ηA(v/y)F = \eta A (v/y), where η\eta is the dynamic viscosity. ((a)) Write dim⁡(η)\dim(\eta) in terms of the base dimensions. ((b)) Stokes' law for the drag on a smooth sphere of radius rr moving at speed vv through a fluid of viscosity η\eta is quoted as F=6πηrvF = 6\pi\eta r v. Check whether this is dimensionally homogeneous.
