Problem

A laboratory manual instructs: "Read out fifty period timings on the stopwatch function of a calculator; do not write down each one. After every ten timings, type the running mean into the notebook. At the end record only the final mean and its standard error." ((a)) State two things another person would need in order to repeat this measurement that this procedure fails to preserve. ((b)) Rewrite the instruction, in one or two sentences, so that it satisfies the rule that the raw data file is never edited. ((c)) In the same session, a bench centrifuge is used to spin sedimentation samples. Write a five-line safety assessment for it: hazard, who is exposed, control, residual risk, emergency action.
