Problem

A camera lens is modelled as a thin converging lens of focal length f=+50 mmf=+50\ \text{mm} (a "50 mm lens"). It is focused on a flower placed so=200 mms_o=200\ \text{mm} in front of the lens, on the axis. ((a)) Using the thin lens equation 1so+1si=1f\dfrac{1}{s_o}+\dfrac{1}{s_i}=\dfrac{1}{f} and this chapter's sign convention, find the image distance. ((b)) State whether the image is real or virtual, and whether a sensor placed at the image plane could record it.
