Problem

A long-sighted person's near point has receded to 1.50 m1.50\ \text{m}: nothing closer than this can be brought into focus by the unaided eye. Using the thin lens equation 1so+1si=1f\dfrac{1}{s_o} + \dfrac{1}{s_i} = \dfrac{1}{f}, find the power, in dioptres, of the thin spectacle lens (worn close to the eye) that lets this person read a book held at the standard near point of d0=25.0 cmd_0 = 25.0\ \text{cm}.
