Problem

A refracting telescope has a converging objective of diameter D=100 mmD = 100\ \text{mm} and focal length fo=1000 mmf_o = 1000\ \text{mm}, and a converging eyepiece of focal length fe=20 mmf_e = 20\ \text{mm}, arranged in the usual way with the objective's rear focal point at the eyepiece's front focal point. Take the objective rim as the aperture stop. Using the thin-lens equation of Chapter 1 under its sign convention (so>0s_o > 0 for a real object to the left, si>0s_i > 0 for a real image to the right, f>0f > 0 for a converging lens), find where the exit pupil forms behind the eyepiece and its diameter.
