Problem

In a fibre-optic test bench, unpolarised light of irradiance I0I_0 passes through: an ideal linear polariser at 0 degrees, then an ideal retarder of retardance Γ=π\Gamma = \pi with its fast axis at 15 degrees, then a second ideal linear polariser at 90 degrees. Find the transmitted irradiance as a fraction of I0I_0.
