Problem

A student photographs the irradiance pattern of a Young's double-slit experiment and reads three quantities off the plotted profile: the bright fringes reach a peak irradiance of 9.09.0 units, the dark minima do not quite vanish and read 1.01.0 unit, and adjacent bright fringes on the screen are 2.42.4 mm apart. The screen is L=1.20L = 1.20 m from the slits and the light has wavelength λ=633\lambda = 633 nm. ((a)) Read the fringe visibility V\mathcal{V} from the plot. ((b)) Find the ratio of the larger to the smaller of the two beam irradiances, I1/I2I_1/I_2 (with I1>I2I_1 > I_2). ((c)) Find the slit separation dd.
