Problem

An air-spaced (n=1.00n=1.00) etalon with mirror reflectance R=0.92\mathcal{R}=0.92 is used at λ=633\lambda = 633 nm. Find the free spectral range, the finesse and the resolving power λ/Δλ\lambda/\Delta\lambda for ((a)) a spacing d1=2.00d_1 = 2.00 mm; ((b)) a spacing d2=4.00d_2 = 4.00 mm (double the first); ((c)) State which of the three quantities changes when the spacing is doubled and which does not, and why.
