Problem

Λ\Lambda baryons of momentum 800 MeV/c800\,\mathrm{MeV}/c are produced at a fixed target. The Λ\Lambda has mass 1115.7 MeV/c21115.7\,\mathrm{MeV}/c^2 and cτ=7.89 cmc\tau = 7.89\,\mathrm{cm}. A tracking detector begins 20.0 cm20.0\,\mathrm{cm} from the production point. Estimate the fraction of the produced Λ\Lambda baryons that survive undecayed to reach the detector.
