Problem

A very short track in a modern silicon vertex detector has momentum 5000 MeV/c5000\,\mathrm{MeV}/c, measured from its curvature, and speed β=0.942\beta = 0.942, measured by timing. ((a)) Calculate the mass of the particle in MeV/c2\mathrm{MeV}/c^2 and identify it, given μ±=105.66\mu^\pm = 105.66 and τ±=1776.93 MeV/c2\tau^\pm = 1776.93\,\mathrm{MeV}/c^2. ((b)) State which generation this particle belongs to, and its spin JJ. ((c)) State the electric charge, in units of ee, of this generation's negatively charged lepton.
