Problem

The light scalar meson f0(500)f_0(500) (also called the σ\sigma) has JP=0+J^P = 0^+ and decays strongly into π+π−\pi^+\pi^-. Each pion has intrinsic parity P(π)=−1P(\pi) = -1 and spin 00. ((a)) Find the orbital angular momentum LL of the two-pion final state, given that the parent has spin 00. ((b)) Compute the total parity of the final state and state whether the decay is allowed by parity.
