Problem

A charged track in the central tracker of a general-purpose detector curves with radius of curvature r=8.35 mr = 8.35\,\mathrm{m} in a uniform solenoidal field of B=2.0 TB = 2.0\,\mathrm{T}, perpendicular to the track's transverse plane. The momentum of a track of charge ±e\pm e is related to its radius of curvature by p [GeV/c]=0.2998 B [T] r [m]p\,[\mathrm{GeV}/c] = 0.2998\,B\,[\mathrm{T}]\,r\,[\mathrm{m}]. ((a)) Find the transverse momentum of the track. ((b)) The tracker measures momentum to a resolution of about 1%1\%. State the absolute uncertainty on this momentum, in GeV/c\mathrm{GeV}/c.
