Problem

A third particle from the same collision leaves this pattern. (a) A track in the tracker curving to a momentum of 25 GeV/c25\,\mathrm{GeV}/c. (b) A small energy deposit in the electromagnetic calorimeter, well under a GeV, as expected from a minimum-ionising loss of about 11 to 2 MeV cm2 g−12\,\mathrm{MeV\,cm^2\,g^{-1}} across the calorimeter's material, far below 25 GeV25\,\mathrm{GeV}. (c) A similarly small, minimum-ionising deposit in the hadronic calorimeter, with no shower. (d) A hit in the muon chambers, in line with the track. Identify the particle and explain each signal.
