Problem

A z pinch holds N=1.0×1019N = 1.0\times10^{19} ion-electron pairs per metre in a column of radius a=1.0 mma = 1.0\,\mathrm{mm}, with the pressure falling to zero at r=ar=a. ((a)) Find the current II needed to confine the column at Te+Ti=2.0 keVT_e+T_i = 2.0\,\mathrm{keV}. ((b)) Take the current density uniform across the column. Find the pressure on the axis at this current.
