Problem

A single-photon qubit is prepared, before normalisation, as ∣ψ⟩∝2∣0⟩+(1−i)∣1⟩|\psi\rangle \propto 2|0\rangle + (1-i)|1\rangle, where ∣0⟩|0\rangle is horizontal polarisation and ∣1⟩|1\rangle is vertical. ((a)) Normalise the state. ((b)) Find the probabilities of the two outcomes of a measurement in the {∣0⟩,∣1⟩}\{|0\rangle,|1\rangle\} basis. ((c)) Compute the Bloch vector (⟨X⟩,⟨Y⟩,⟨Z⟩)(\langle X\rangle, \langle Y\rangle, \langle Z\rangle). ((d)) Find the probability of the ++ outcome of a measurement in the {∣+⟩,∣−⟩}\{|+\rangle,|-\rangle\} basis.
