Problem

Building a four-photon linear-optical cluster state requires two post-selected controlled-ZZ gates in series, each succeeding with probability 1/91/9 (quoted for the linear-optical CZ), after which all four output photons must be registered by superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors of efficiency 90%90\% each. ((a)) Estimate the overall probability that a single attempt yields a successful, fully detected four-photon state. ((b)) Estimate the number of attempts needed for an expected one success. ((c)) If fresh photon pulses are produced at a repetition rate of 80 MHz80\,\mathrm{MHz}, estimate how long, on average, one successful event takes to occur.
