Problem

The second line of the hydrogen Lyman series is the transition n2=3→n1=1n_2 = 3 \to n_1 = 1. Take RH=1.097×107 m−1R_H = 1.097\times10^7\ \mathrm{m^{-1}} and treat the nucleus as fixed. ((a)) Find its wavelength, in nm. ((b)) Be3+^{3+} is a one-electron ion with nuclear charge Z=4Z = 4. Find the wavelength of its 3→13 \to 1 line, in nm.
