Problem

A wave packet is built not from a Gaussian but from a flat momentum amplitude, ϕ(k)=A\phi(k) = A for k0−b<k<k0+bk_0 - b < k < k_0 + b and ϕ(k)=0\phi(k) = 0 outside, with AA real. Take k0=10.0 nm−1k_0 = 10.0\ \mathrm{nm^{-1}} and b=0.50 nm−1b = 0.50\ \mathrm{nm^{-1}}. ((a)) Find AA from the normalisation ∫∣ϕ(k)∣2dk=1\int|\phi(k)|^2dk = 1. ((b)) Use the Fourier pair to find Ψ(x,0)\Psi(x,0) in closed form. ((c)) Evaluate Ψ(0,0)\Psi(0,0), the packet's peak amplitude.
