Problem

A neutron is trapped inside a light nucleus of radius 4.54.5 fm. Model the nucleus as an infinite spherical well: the potential energy is V=0V = 0 for r<4.5r < 4.5 fm and infinite outside, and the neutron does not interact with anything else. Estimate the energy of the lowest level of the well (the l=0l = 0, n=1n = 1 state).Take ℏ2/2mn=20.7\hbar^2/2m_n = 20.7 MeV fm2^2.
