Reading the Spectrum, Ch Two nuclei on one curve: rotation, vibration and the spectrum of a diatomic molecule

Problem

The same molecule, H79Br\mathrm{H^{79}Br} with rotational constant B0=8.465 cm−1B_0 = 8.465\,\mathrm{cm^{-1}}, is held at T=350 KT = 350\,\mathrm K while its rovibrational band is recorded. By tabulating the relative population NJ∝(2J+1)exp⁡ ⁣[−hcB0J(J+1)/kBT]N_J \propto (2J+1)\exp\!\left[-hcB_0J(J+1)/k_{\rm B}T\right] for J=0J = 0 to 66, find the rotational level JJ from which the strongest lines of the band originate, and name the two lines this produces in P/RP/R branch notation.
