Problem

A non-rotating planet is modelled as a sphere of uniform density with mass M=3.00×1023 kgM = 3.00\times10^{23}\ \mathrm{kg} and radius R=3.00×106 mR = 3.00\times10^{6}\ \mathrm{m}. It has no atmosphere and there is no other matter nearby. ((a)) Find the magnitude of the surface field gg. ((b)) Find the radius r<Rr < R inside the planet at which the field magnitude is half its surface value. ((c)) Find the radius r>Rr > R outside the planet at which the field magnitude is half its surface value.
