Problem
A computational-fluid-dynamics code computes the drag coefficient of a cylinder on its finest mesh (N=240). It is timed ten times in a row in a freshly started process, with no warm-up, giving in the order measured (ms): 9.80,6.20,6.05,6.30,6.10,6.40,6.00,6.25,6.80,6.15. A draft report reads: "The drag solver takes 9.8 ms."
((a)) Which run carries the start-up cost that a warm-up exists to absorb, and what should be done with it?
((b)) Without that run, report the median and interquartile range of the other nine, using the convention that the median is the middle value and each of Q1, Q3 is the average of the two middle values of the lower and upper halves of four values (median excluded).
((c)) Name the conditions the report must state alongside the number.
