Signal Speeds in Fluids, Ch Waves in a rotating fluid: inertial, Poincare and Kelvin waves

Problem

A long, straight, east-west channel lies in the southern hemisphere. A tidal Kelvin wave enters the channel and travels eastward along it. ((a)) Before doing any calculation, state which shore of the channel, north or south, will show the larger tidal range, and give your reasoning in words. ((b)) Check the prediction using the sign of ff in the southern hemisphere.
