Signal Speeds in Fluids, Ch Steady compressible flow: energy, stagnation and the Mach number

Problem

Use cp=γR/(γ−1)c_p=\gamma R/(\gamma-1) for air, with γ=1.4\gamma=1.4 and R=287.05 J kg−1 K−1R=287.05\,\mathrm{J\,kg^{-1}\,K^{-1}}. ((a)) Still air at 300 K300\,\mathrm{K} is drawn into a duct and accelerated smoothly and adiabatically, with no work done on it, to a speed of 300 m s−1300\,\mathrm{m\,s^{-1}}. Using the steady-flow energy equation with h^=cpT\hat h=c_pT, find its temperature there. ((b)) A separate mass of air is heated at constant pressure from 300 K300\,\mathrm{K} to 600 K600\,\mathrm{K}. Find its specific entropy change.
