Problem

All parts use air as an ideal gas with γ=1.4\gamma = 1.4 and R=287.05 J kg−1 K−1R = 287.05\,\mathrm{J\,kg^{-1}\,K^{-1}}, in quasi-one-dimensional isentropic flow. ((a)) A duct has area ratio A/A∗=1.20A/A^* = 1.20. Find the Mach number on the subsonic branch. ((b)) A duct has area ratio A/A∗=3.00A/A^* = 3.00. Find the Mach number on the supersonic branch. ((c)) A converging nozzle is fed from a reservoir at p0=4.0 barp_0 = 4.0\,\mathrm{bar}, T0=350 KT_0 = 350\,\mathrm{K}, discharging into a back pressure of 1.0 bar1.0\,\mathrm{bar}. Find the exit Mach number, exit pressure and exit velocity.
