Problem

A rubber engine mount has shear modulus G=0.30 MPaG = 0.30\,\mathrm{MPa}. In service it is subjected to a simple shear strain γ=0.80\gamma = 0.80. ((a)) Calculate the shear stress σ\sigma carried by the mount. ((b)) Calculate the Young modulus EE that the same rubber would show in small-strain tension.
